Solution: Rockfish worked closely with Wal-Mart to conceive, design, develop and launch mywalmart.com.
Details: Wal-Mart associates are located all over the world and engage in conversations around their employer in many venues. Mywalmart.com was created to connect the “Wal-Mart family”, host those conversations and help to provide a platform on which information can be disseminated and discussed. The site is exclusive to active Wal-Mart associates and provides access to content unavailable anywhere else. mywalmart.com hosts blogs, forums, shared stories, Q & A, content ratings, live video chats, and more. The site also provides a gateway to associate benefits and 3rd party tools for political and community involvement.
User profiles allow associates to share their Wal-Mart experience, participate and track conversations, and comment on content and postings. The site experience is customizable allowing users to move and place widgets providing instant, persistent access to content. Associates can seek out and “friend” one another to connect to those within their own facility or across the country.
Rockfish custom built the site from the ground up, molding end user experience and content managers’ workflow exactly to the needs of the business. mywalmart.com expanded greatly on Rockfish’s core CMS. All user generated content can be actively or passively moderated. Site navigation and content are driven by Wal-Mart site administrators. Site authentication integrates tightly with existing Wal-Mart systems to provide seamless single sign-on capabilities with other Wal-Mart properties.
The site is truly groundbreaking for Wal-Mart and its associates. This ambitious project has only bolstered the company’s position at the forefront of social media application. mywalmart.com serves to facilitate company-wide communication and to further build the brand of Wal-Mart.
